We’re in the homestretch! The lady at the post office today said my package might get there, or it might not. I wasn’t sure if she meant it may NEVER get there, or that it may not arrive by Christmas…I was afraid to ask for clarification. She looked a little frazzled.
And who isn’t?!
Writing helps me…I started out a few weeks ago with my story
In the story I shared my newfound excitement to decorate my house for the holidays. And when I wrote it, I had every intention of making my house look like the house in the Christmas Vacation movie. And you guessed it! My house bears no resemblance to the spectacle of lights in the movie. I did make it to our town’s parade, which was so fun! But my decorating was limited to this…
Although not very grand, it was a step up from last year. Baby steps…There’s always next year.
Now that I’ve admitted to my last-minute trip to the post office, you know that I didn’t follow the plan I laid out in my story
I wasn’t able to find a Black Friday shopping partner this year. Most of my purchases were on Amazon. I did spring for their gift wrapping with mixed feelings. I wanted to send something that could be opened, a surprise, but since I selected from the lists supplied by my children, they know what it is anyway.
We received several Christmas cards, and I made my favorite gingerbread cookies to have on hand for anyone that stops by. I tried to catch our mailman to give him a cookie, I think he sped up when he saw me in his rear view mirror!
Receiving such beautiful cards inspired me to send a card of my own. We took this family photo in May at our daughter’s graduation dinner. We are so proud of her. She is now a pharmacist and officially the most highly educated one of us!
I hope this letter finds you filled with Holiday joy and that you find time to relax and reflect on your happy memories. Thank you for reading and subscribing, it means so much to me. Your support keeps me writing and excited to grow EmptyMess in the new year.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
Stephanie
